[X]ref Journey: Exploring the Musical History of China

Yunnan Allen, a designer from our Los Angeles studio, was one of two annual winners of HMC’s internal [X]ref Travel Fellowship. The program and annual competition for HMC employees, was established to expose individuals to experiences that connect them to a wider span of influence, with the hope that these experiences will result in personal growth and creative renewal that is reflected into all aspects of their lives. Each winner receives an extra week of paid time off and a $4,000 travel stipend to use to go anywhere in the world. For her journey, Yunnan proposed a cultural exploration of the musical history of China. We’ve asked Yunnan to share her experience and how her travels have influenced her work at HMC.

Steven Prince Promoted as Managing Principal of HMC Architects’ San Diego Studio

Designer, Mentor, Professor, Blogger: Meet Evan Troxel

Working out of HMC’s Ontario, Calif., studio, Evan Troxel is a designer and mentor to others during work hours, a college professor after hours, and an instructional video blogger way after hours. Still perplexed as to when Evan finds time to sleep, we sat down to find out what amazing things he’s working on and how he fits it all into a day’s work.

Los Angeles Business Council honors two HMC-designed projects at annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards

On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) hosted the 40th annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards, recognizing the project teams responsible for the city’s highest regarded architecture. HMC Architects was proud to be honored with two awards.
